When people hear “telemarketing,” they often picture a relentless call centre, robotic dialling, and pushy sales tactics. But at Exceptional Thinking, it couldn’t be further from the truth!

08:30 – Caffeine, Emails & Quick Wins

The kids are sorted, breakfast is out of the way, and you’re on your second jug (not mug!) of coffee. Time to check emails—some prospects want to be contacted next month, but Lyndsay, an MD at a marketing firm, is ready for business coaching now! You email her back to set up a call and qualify her for your client.

09:00 – Team Huddle (and the Latest Gossip)

A quick morning meeting with the team—last night’s TV dramas, bizarre dinners, and unexpected celebrity scandals get their moment before the serious stuff kicks in. You go through client targets, campaign updates, and who’s working on what to keep everything on track.

09:20 – 11:00 – Getting in the Zone

First up: Cyber Security client. You check industry news, revisit past successful calls, and get going. The first few calls are slow—8 no answers and a particularly sassy gatekeeper (how do they always remember?!). But then, a breakthrough:

🚀 A CISO at a £100m company is keen on penetration testing. APPOINTMENT BOOKED! You scramble to get the client’s diary open and secure the slot.

11:00 – 11:15 – Quick Check-In & Lead Processing

A short team catch-up to see how everyone’s doing on appointments. You download the call recording, decipher your scribbles, and send a well-structured lead sheet to the Account Manager for review.

11:15 – 12:30 – Momentum & Deep Dives

You stay on Cyber Security for a bit longer while you’re in the groove—no more appointments but some promising call-backs for next week. Then, onto a new Business Coaching client. Time to dig into past appointment notes, get familiar with their target audience, and prep a million questions for the 1pm Zoom.

12:30 – 13:00 – Lunchtime Debates 🍽️

Today’s hot topic in the group chat:
💬 “If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?”

The usual suspects pop up—The Pope, Nelson Mandela, Princess Diana—until someone throws in Hitler (for purely interrogative reasons, apparently). You shake your head, return to your soup, and watch The Chase.

13:00 – 15:30 – Pushing Through

The afternoon starts slow. You’re not getting through to many prospects, so you dig into your pipeline and pull forward some leads. Good move! One prospect replies to your morning email, keen to chat. You book them in for first thing tomorrow.

15:30 – 16:00 – Training Time!

Today’s session? Software development. You quickly learn that:
🐍 Python isn’t just a snake.
🎵 C# isn’t just a music note.

With some new buzzwords and insights, you’re ready to smash their campaign.

16:00 – 17:00 – Follow-Ups & Wrapping Up

The last stretch of the day:
📞 Following up with morning call-backs.
📧 Sending emails to interested prospects.
📲 Messaging on LinkedIn—anywhere between 10-20 connections per client per day.

By the time you log off, you’ve made around 80 calls, sent 20+ emails, and generated 1-2 qualified leads—which your clients will likely convert into business. And that’s what makes it all worth it.
