In 1997, Des Ponsonby, John Mangan, Mark Ponson-by and Brian Croghan formed Corporate Solutions Logistics to provide high-quality contract logistics underpinned by a passionate belief in providing an excellent service and developing operations.
Corporate Solutions Logistics haven’t lost a client in 10 years, and have won awards for their customer-focused operations. While this is undoubtedly fantas-tic, Des recognised that in order to take the business from a turnover of £30m a year to £50m a year, Cor-porate Solutions Logistics needed to secure introduc-tory appointments with large contract clients.
So we implemented a strategy for the firm that ena-bled them to target large companies spending over £1m a year on logistics. Over time, we have worked together to obtain leads through methods such as email marketing and telemarketing. By building rela-tionships with contacts in management positions at some of the UK’s top companies, we have secured physical meetings for Des with Sainsbury’s, Primark, Carlsberg, Matalan and Starbucks to name but a few.
There was no doubt that Des could close a sale, but he simply didn’t have the time to follow up leads over the course of weeks or months. He explains: “The appointments have been exactly what I was looking for. They have enabled me to have promising conver-sations with some of the biggest retailers in the country”. By using Exceptional Thinking, Des has been able to spend his time attending to his existing clients and tendering for potential new clients. He says: “I like Exceptional Thinking’s approach, it gets the results I need. I can trust Exceptional Thinking to find me quality appointments and find out the in-formation I need to potentially turn those prospects into clients”.
Corporate Solutions Logistics have had a great year, celebrating 20 years in business and winning the Transport News award for Most Client-Focused Transport & Logistics Company – UK and Ireland.
Thanks to the meetings we have arranged for them with prospective clients, they hope to be ushering in big business next year too.
